PRIDE - DEDICATION -  SERVICE

GTR K-9 Search Team and Kennels was formed to provide all of the skills,  best k-9 resources and personal for your Search Mission. We can provide assistance locating missing persons or human remains. We are a non-profit organization providing immediate call-out status to the Southern United States of America. We are available to Law Enforcement Agencies day or night 365 days a year.
Our search team does not charge for it's services, and will respond at no cost for all types of search emergencies.

Our goal is to help promote professional SAR K-9 handler teams.
We are dedicated to preserving the Belgian Malinois as the ultimate multi-purpose working dog.
We strongly believe in maintaining the proper standard for this breed.

GTR has chosen the Belgian Malinois breed as our working K-9 partners, but we are not breed specific. We have helped train some of the best German Shepherds Labrador Retrievers and mix breed dogs that have certified in SAR.

  • BELGIAN MALINOIS (MAL-IN-WAH), Herding Breed.

This breed needs an experienced master who is firm, but not harsh. If you are harsh or overbearing they will become uncooperative.

Owners need to display a confident, natural authority over the dog. This breed is instinctively protective so it should be trained and socialized very well from an early age. They are ever watchful, alert and loyal.

It does best when given leadership and daily exercise along with ample time, attention, training and companionship. If this breed is ignored, it will find ways to entertain itself, often at the owner's expense.

The Belgian Malinois has a lot of energy and needs a job to do. Working lines have particularly high drive.

They tend to bond strongly with one or two people.

Before purchasing, please research the breed and the breeder or kennels.

Bree, my first Belgian Malinois. purchased in 2000.  My first mantrailing K-9 partner. She's had success in recovering lost victims. Although every case we have worked the end results have always been body recovery. She is retired due to a foot injury that surgery could not repair.
Bree is now our house dog and pet. Her new job is herding the cats and mothering any pups that happen to come along.
